Cherished Vintage Accessories

Cherished Vintage Accessories

It is great to welcome back so many exhibitors from the first Dorset Vintage Wedding Fair especially  when they are of the calibre of
Cherished Vintage Accessories.

...New memories to cherish from cherished memories of old. Handcrafted bridal accessories, inspirationally created by designer Abby Gadd from antique and vintage jewellery.

Diamante and Olive Rhinestone

Cherished creates beautiful tiaras, headbands, combs and hairpins from vintage jewellery, lace and millinery. Their collection of unique, one-off headpieces is deliberately eclectic, reflecting the individuality of the original treasures.

As a designer, and with a background as an historian, Abby loves the 'upcycling' that a Cherished headpiece entails. Many of the original pieces she uses in her designs have lain forgotten in jewellery boxes for years; some are brooches with missing pins, some necklaces with broken clasps or strings, others are single earrings unable to be used for their original purpose.

All deserve being brought into the limelight again, beginning a new chapter in their decorative history. Their headpieces celebrate the warm lustre of old faux pearls, the soft sparkle of antique paste stones, and the vibrancy of mid-century rhinestones. Sensitivity to the enduring beauty of vintage pieces is what Cherished is all about.

Each
Cherished headpiece is beautifully handcrafted and destined to become family heirlooms of the future.

We are delighted to announce that Calm Amongst The Chaos will be exhibiting at The Dorset Vintage Wedding Fair on October 16th with their stunning selection of made to measure, vintage inspired, bridal gowns.

Calm Amongst The Chaos owner and designer, Frances Farmer tells us more about her company

and all the glamour from those days."

"All the gowns are named after movie stars which is where inspiration for each gown comes from.If there is something special you have in mind we also design and make to order so you can have the dress of your dreams."

"Most gowns are made in 100% silk and embellished with crystals, pearls and beautiful glass beads. We  use feathers and faux fur to give the finishing touch and create that real vintage look. We also make all the accessories such as veils, bags, head dresses and fascinators, as well as bridesmaids dresses and page boys outfits."

"Each project is carefully thought through with ideas from the bride taken into consideration. Brooches, old lace or any keepsake can be an integral part of the dress or used as a theme throughout."

On the day of the fair, Calm Amongst The Chaos will be hosting a catwalk show in the main marquee showcasing their collection of gowns. There will be two opportunitites to see the models in action, 12.00pm and 2.30pm, so be there early to bag your front row seat!

Cherished Vintage

After visiting some rather fabulous vintage wedding fairs in the last 8 months, there were some exhibitors who just stood out from the crowd. One of these was Cherished Vintage

The creative collaboration of two extremely talented ladies, Debbie and Abby, Cherished Vintage make the most stunning bridal accessories -

"Exquisite tiaras, hair bands and combs lovingly made by hand from vintage costume jewellery. Pearls, crystal beads and diamante from a more glamorous age are reworked into delightful headdresses. Treasures from the past become your heirloom of the future. We specialise in bridal accessories, but our beautiful vintage collection will suit many different special occasions."

As well as another of our exhibitors, Vintage Magpie, Cherished Vintage are often mentioned on the highly influential wedding blog 'Love my Dress', a necessary daily read for any bride looking for vintage inspiration for their big day.
"A huge part of what I do behind the scenes is networking and discovering those people doing great things in the wedding industry.  Things I want to shout about and share with you.  I always find it so thrilling when I come across such talent only to discover they are already following my blog! One of my latest such 'talent finds' is a company called Cherished Vintage. Debbie and Abby, who run Cherished Vintage, are collectors of vintage wedding accessories - they also design and create their own vintage inspired wedding accessories, including headbands, combs and tiaras." (Annabel Beeforth, May 2011)

In addition to the ready-to-wear collection, Cherished also offer a bespoke service, whereby vintage items can be sourced to complement a bride’s gown, design motif or colour scheme.  Or, if a bride has a treasured piece of family jewellery that she would like sympathetically transformed into a headdress for her big day, Cherished will create a truly personal piece that can become a cherished family heirloom of the future.

If you can't wait until October 16th, take a look at Cherished Vintage's online store at http//shop.cherishedvintage.co.uk
