What can you find in The Cherry Closet?
"The Cherry Closet offers a hand selected array of vintage and retro clothing, bags, shoes, hats and accessories. Dating back as early as the 1930’s, all our items are sourced with love and cherry picked for their unique style, wearability and general gorgeousness. We aim to offer style savvy ladies a varied selection of affordable vintage, whether you want to create an individual look, rock out at a fancy dress do, or like us, just generally adore vintage and don’t need an excuse to fill our closets with it!
We update the Closet with fabulous new items regularly so keep checking back for our latest finds. We stock a range of different eras, sizes and styles, from parasols to wedding attire, so you’ll always find something new.
We opened the doors of our first high street boutique based in the bohemain end of Boscombe, Dorset in April 2011 in a collaboration shop called 'What Alice Found' which stocks our cherry picked vintage and an ever growing selection of ecclectic homeware and unique collectibles.
We take our inspiration from past legends of the stage and screen with the likes of Marilyn and Audrey, movie icons of the last three decades, and modern trend setters like Lady Gaga, Sienna Miller and Paloma Faith."
Whose closet is it?
Proud creator of The Cherry Closet is Nicki Grainger, who wishes time travel existed so she could go and relive fashion era’s of the past for real! A lover of fashion from an early age, Nicki spent her childhood designing dresses on pieces of scrap paper and dancing round the garden trees with flowers in her hair.
Growing up, her mum threw extravagant fancy dress parties, so Nicki got a taste of drama, design and ‘getting into character’ which stayed with her into adult life.
With a degree in Fashion Writing in one hand and a beaten up YSL vintage handbag in the other, Nicki launched The Cherry Closet to express her love for fashion, her respect for things of the past and as a way to watch her lifelong passions and ambitions become reality. When she is not sourcing vintage treasures, Nicki spends time with her loved ones and drinks obscene amounts of tea. She loves colour, art, fabric, cupcakes, red lipstick, steam trains, sunsets and old perfume bottles too.
Come and see Nicki at Chettle House on October 16th 2011 with her exciting array of vintage accessories and wedding dresses.
