What's the difference between 'vintage' and 'antique'? Well, antique tends to refer to an article that is 100 years old and over and vintage is 50 years or over. It's not a hard-and-fast rule, but can be a useful guideline if you are planning to keep your wedding vintage authentic.
Retro is another matter - this can be anything from recent history, but is largely associated with the 60s, 70s and 80s - We're not sure 80's weddings will catch on in the same way!!

VINTAGE WEDDING DORSET
By Alicia Gonzalez Betancort
Vintage weddings are becoming one of the most
popular trends nowadays, because of their classic elegance and glamorous
feel.
They are made for brides who adore the antique look
for its simplicity and beauty.
A typical example is the monochrome, black and
white theme, symbolic of the 1940's. This will give your wedding a modern retro
touch. Further ideas include the employment of feathers as props (very 1920's)
and dot patterns from the 60s. By taking elements from different times and
adapting them to your own personal taste and vision, you will create your own
era.
Make sure you keep an attentive eye to detail, as
this is one of the most important aspects of a quality vintage wedding.
Mantelpieces, cutlery, lamps, flowers, centrepieces,
colour schemes...All should be set to fit nicely into your retro-inspired
occasion. Keep the lighting in the venue in modern mode, however, for better
photographic quality of your special day. When deciding on a cake, choose an
uncomplicated design with a vintage look, in accordance with the style of your
wedding.
In terms of your wedding gown, perhaps settle for a
pre-loved vintage dress with plenty of lace and a long veil.
